Volunteer

Although much of the initial emergency has been alleviated in the first month or so, there is still much to do. Houses remain covered with trees and filled with mud. FEMA seems to be barely involved, while local residents left homeless are living in tents around the relief centers, relying on the generosity of donors and volunteers. Are you interested in helping?

We need chainsaw teams to continue clearing paths to hollers in the mountains where folks are still separated from the outside world. Large landmoving equipment is needed to move massive amounts of debris and cut new roads and driveways and replace bridges. Electricians, plumbers and skilled workers are needed to make structures habitable again. Unskilled? We need folks to help with the cooking, laundry, stocking the shelves with supplies, organizing the donations… we can use the help from ANYONE!

We take several trips a month to Bat Cave and Swannanoa for about 4-6 days at a time, so you can come with us or make arrangements to meet you there on your schedule!
